David Nightingale Hicks, was a famous English interior decorator and designer in the 60's, 70's and 80's. He started his career in advertising and became know for interiors when a London interior was showcased in House and Home magazine n the mid-50's. He was known for his use of bold colours, mixing antique and modern furnishings, and contemporary art.
Hicks and the architectural practice Garnett Cloughley Blakemore (GCB) collaborated on a series of private commissions including the Chelsea Drugstore which featured in Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film A Clockwork Orange.
