LSAD Materials Library
All three years had a great day at the LSAD's current exhibition to launch the new Materials Library at Limerick School of Art & Design. Thank you to Des Farrell, Chris Boland for giving us a talk on this new and exciting venture. Thank you also to Des McMahon for giving us an overview of the print area. The exhibition displays the results of exploration of materials in LSAD using a multitude of source materials. This exhibition continues until this Friday 28th of February if you didn't make the trip.The LSAD Materials Library will be a living, evolving data base of new, experimental and exciting materials. People are encouraged to suggest additional modes of production and materials, as well as to add to the data base. Why not give it a go!!!

Designer #16: Suzie McAdam
Suzie McAdam has continued to make a big name for herself over the last five years and is definitely seen as once of Ireland's leading Interior Designers. She has certainly matured as a designer and is beginning to come into her own, breaking away from her usual mold of interiors which she was know for (strongly influenced by Abigail Ahern).

Squire and Partners are one of London's premier architectural firms that have been working in design for over forty years. Over the decades they have won many awards for projects reaching over urban design and master planning, commercial, residential interior design and interior architecture including education, retail, and the workplace. They have a dedicated interior design department as well as a model-making section. This is ane exciting firm with an extensive portfolio that have had many Irish architects and designers work with them over the years!

W2W Student Design Competition hits LIT's Street
The W2W, GreyFox & Perch Student Design Competition in 'Circular Economy' has arrived in Moylish and can be viewed on the Street. This is a showcase of a select few students of the highest standard chosen from over 100 entries including two of our own third year Interior Design students Jessica Leamy and Karen Kavanagh who were Highly Commended and Commended respectively. The exhibit continues in the foyer of the Millennium Theater with the remainder of the third year groups work and a project from the first year of the programme.

Architect #14: KaTO
KaTO is a non-profit multi-disciplinary design studio set established by Architect Kyle Murphy. KaTO focuses on utilising architecture and design to help communities in disadvantages areas of the world. Previous development include a Community Center in Monterrey, Mexico.The image above is from a proposed new primary, secondary school, Vocational and Health Center in the Dominican Republic.

Designer #14: Bryan O'Sullivan Studios
Byran O'Sullivan Studios is headed up by a Kerry man (from Kenmare precisely). Bryan has been making serious waves in the interior design world and has just won Elle Décor Interior Designer of the Year 2019. See his project work here.

Architect #14: Child Graddon Lewis
Child Graddon Lewis was responsible for Leeds Docks regeneration in 2017. This project transformed a redundant site in the city center and includes over a dozen low-cost initiatives for the public including a mix of commercial and public amenities. A model that could easily be adopted here in Ireland.
Child Graddon Lewis is a London-based firm. In their own words:
"We are architects who like to create buildings and places that are stimulating, secure and welcoming. Our design is developed through the process of discovering the qualities of each place and the lives that shape them."

W2W Design Awards 2019
Well done to our third year student Karen Kavanagh & Jessica Leamy on being shortlisted for the 2019 W2W, Perch, GreyFox & Anois Student Design Awards. This year's theme was based on 'Circular Economy'and proved a very challenging brief for the students. Well done to Karen and Jessica on being selected, it is a wonderful achievement.
